Stephen ''Steve'' Lewis Amaon, 64, a true Texas cowboy, passed away in Corpus Christi, Texas, surrounded by his family on Friday, November 8th, 2019.

His family will be receiving visitors at the Kimble Funeral Home in Junction, Texas, beginning at 10:00am on Monday, November 11th. A graveside service will be held immediately following at the Hext Cemetery.

Steve is survived by his wife Vikki, sons Blake Allen and Alan Louis, daughter Amy Marie, cousins Rob, Jacklyn, Quinton, Zane Jack and Calvin McKinney, his loving nieces and nephews, his ''first child'' and beloved horse Chance, and several not-so-stray cats that crossed his path. Steve is preceded in death by his father Jack, his mother Emma Marie, his sister Jackie Gayle, his brother Walter Leon Krustchinsky Jr, and many beloved relatives. Steve was a loving and devoted father, a storyteller for the ages, a thoughtful collector of memories and mementos, a horse whisperer, and a wise and calming presence to all who knew him.

Steve loved life and living it to the fullest, but he also loved talking about it. Anything cunning or daring, or even a little silly, was bound to be something he had a great story to tell you about. From his wild youth, sliding down the Dam in Junction on hot summer days and borrowing a fire truck to hose off the crowd at the London Dance Hall, he could teach you how to have fun and find the joy in any situation. To his traveling twenties, learning just about any blue collar trade and seeing more of the United States than most people ever will, he could weigh in on any conversation intelligently. He always had a story to relate to anything, and shared his wisdom freely.

Even more than Steve loved life, he loved his three children. Any time he was asked where he worked, rather than rattling off an employer, he would proudly declare ''I work for my kids.'' He gave all of himself to his children every day, all day long, like writing them notes to find with their breakfast to taking off for lunch every Friday to celebrate ''pizza day'' at their school cafeterias. He instilled in them a love for family and heritage, taking them to the family home in Kimble County and walking them through the entire oral family history in their relatives footsteps. He fostered in them a passion for the outdoors, animals, and the great State of Texas. He encouraged them to pursue their passions and reminded them that there is always time to ''go to the creek'' when life gets tough. But most importantly, he watched them grow into strong, independent adults that he was incredibly proud of.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of the professionals at Kimble Funeral Home.
