Wanda Louise Teel, 77, of Junction, Texas passed away on January 25, 2024 in San Antonio due to a short battle with an intense infection.
Wanda was born on May 31, 1946 in Bryan, Texas. Her family moved to Junction with the opening of the A&M Adjunct Campus at Junction in 1951. The Junction High School Class of '64 graduate attended Baylor University where she met and married Bob Insall of Bertram. Upon graduation, she taught vocational office education at Travis High School in Austin. After her mother's death in 1980, Wanda and family returned to Junction opening Bouquets by Wanda a flower, custom framing, and ceramic shop.
In March 1985, she married the love of her life David Teel and dedicated her life to her family and the Junction community both in profession and in volunteerism. She worked at the South Llano River State Park before retiring from the Department Health and Human Services. She volunteered in many roles for the EMS, Fire Department Support, Chamber of Commerce, Wild Game Dinner, church, and many others. Earlier this month she was recognized for lifetime achievement by the Kimble County Chamber of Commerce with the Kimble Award.
Wanda loved quilting, scrapbooking, spending time at the ranch, and traveling with her husband. Most of all, she loved her family and seeing her grandkids grow up.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer D Parrott and Mattie Lee Parrott of Junction.
Wanda is survived by husband of 39 years, David Teel, Jr. and their three children, and six grandchildren: Jerry Blake Insall and his wife Becky Insall of Austin, their children Cade, Elise, and Ainsley; Joshua Teel of Lexington, Kentucky; Vanessa Teel Childress and her husband Corey of Junction, their children Steven, Owen, and Lilly.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM, Sunday, January 28, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Junction with Pastor Steve Myers officiating. Interment will follow at Wooten Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 4-6:00 PM, Saturday at Kimble Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Thanksgiving Fund at the First Baptist Church of Junction.
