Ruby Leona Joy

Ruby Leona Carey Joy, 97, of Roosevelt, passed away on February 8, 2024 in Menard, Texas.

Ruby was born March 8, 1926 in Tanglewood, Texas.  She moved to Kimble County after marrying H.O. Joy.  Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, H.O. “Dutch” and three sons, Edward Lee, H.O. “Ollie” Jr., and William Preston.  Survivors include one daughter, Jean Goodall Pearce of The Woodlands; daughter-in-law, Vera Joy of Roosevelt; grandchildren, Mark (Susan) Goodall of New Waverly, Troy (Kathy) Goodall of San Antonio; Cash (Christy) Joy; Chane (Ashley) Joy of Roosevelt; Janet Russ of Kerrville and David Joy of Bandera; fourteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Carey Martin of Bryan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruby loved sharing her love of cooking and crocheting.  She made many friends during her years of working at Kimble Hospital and in the school system.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the Junction City Cemetery with Rev. Jim and Rev. Laurie Barker and Charles Hagood officiating.  A memorial gathering and potluck lunch will follow at 12 noon at the Roosevelt Community Center.  

Memorials may be made to the Kimble Hospital or the Roosevelt Community Center.
