Robert Fox

Robert Louis Fox, 97, passed away November 22, 2020 at his home on the Fox Ranch in Kimble County, Texas.

For the safety of all, Norman, Julie, Andy and Connie prefer to wait until the Covid spread has settled before holding a service. We plan to mix his and Mom’s ashes together and scatter them about the ranch.  At a later date, we will place a memorial marker in the Copperas Cemetery and have a service to honor their lives.

Robert was born in the old house on the Fox Ranch on March 16, 1923. He grew up on the ranch, and except for the time he served in the Army, and a couple of years after marrying Lila he lived on the Fox Ranch.

He served in the US Army Cavalry during WWII and was stationed in China, India and Burma. Mostly he drove convoy trucks but he also cooked and served as a MP.

They lost his paperwork when he was discharged so were writing him some new papers. They asked him what he did in Army he said cooked. He didn’t like being an MP.

He married Lila Zane Cecil October 21, 1949. They had two kids, Norman and Connie

He worked many jobs: ranching while also cutting cedar, service station attendant, mechanic, feed store gofer, cedar mill working and carpenter. His favorite was ranching and carpentering with his brother Charlie.

His wife, Lila died March of this year.

He is survived by his son, Norman Louis Fox; daughter, Connie Fox; Norman’s wife, Julie and their son, Andrew Louis; and many nieces and nephews.

He will be missed.  He made this world a better place to live with his wisdom, life stories, tall tales, great smile, sense of humor and best of all love.

Memorials may be made to the Kimble County Rural Fire Service, First Presbyterian Church or your favorite charity.
