Matthew Menchaca

Matthew Michael Menchaca, 53, of Junction, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. Born on August 3, 1971, in Fredericksburg, Texas, to Hector Menchaca and Edna (Sepeda) Menchaca, Matt's life was a testament to love, laughter, and the joy of family.

Matt had a special way of bringing people together, whether it was through his famous barbecues, where goat meat was always the star of the show, or any excuse he could find to celebrate with those he loved. He found solace and happiness in the simple pleasures of life—spending time outdoors, fishing for catfish, or enjoying a round of golf at the Junction Golf Course or Top Golf. He had a passion for playing pool and enjoyed the thrill of gambling on his phone.

A dedicated sports fan and Junction High School athlete himself, Matt had a particular love for football, with the Baltimore Ravens holding a special place in his heart. He cherished the camaraderie of watching games with friends and family, sharing in the highs and lows of each season.

Matt's love for his family was unwavering. He is survived by his father, Hector Menchaca of Junction; his beloved children, daughter, Nadia Menchaca of Austin and son, Alec Menchaca of Houston; and his dear sisters, Mia Menchaca of San Antonio, Monica Menchaca of San Antonio, Ana Valverde of San Antonio and his two nephews. Though his mother, Edna (Sepeda) Menchaca, preceded him in death, her loving spirit continued to guide and inspire him throughout his life.

A funeral mass in Matt's honor will be held at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Junction, TX on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., with Father Mark officiating. Following the Church Memorial, a Celebration of Life Memorial will take place at St. Theresa's Catholic Annex at 11:30 a.m., where family and friends will gather to share memories, enjoy food, and honor Matt's incredible legacy.

In loving memory of Matt, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished moments. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew him.

Services with integrity, pride, and honor are under the direction of Kimble Funeral Home. (325) 446-3076
