Marlin “Sue” Williams, age 80, passed away, Wednesday, September 14, 2022. Sue was born December 19, 1941 in Levelland, Texas to Marvin Chester Graves and Willie Mae Graves. She had the best sense of humor, was full of sass, and loved to feed others any chance she got. She told stories of playing in cotton fields as a child and spending her days playing with her siblings. In 1958, at the age of 16, she married a kind, generous, loving man, Maxie Gordon Williams. Together they had five children and served the church faithfully. When asked how she was able to have so many children, she quickly responded, “it’s easy when you love ‘em.” Sue never met a baby she couldn’t rock to sleep, she loved her pets, and always spoiled them rotten. Her quick wit and her laugh were contagious. She was once asked if she was “still kicking” and without missing a beat she said, “I sure am, but not that high.” We rejoice today as we know she’s kicking those legs high with Jesus, himself. We love you Sue, Sue Bear, Grandma, Mom, and “Joanzie.” Thank you for the legacy you built and thank you for being ours.
Sue leaves behind her husband of 64 years, Maxie; her sons, Mack and Dale and his wife Valarie; her daughters, Pamela and her husband Michael, Teresa, and her husband Rick, and Kathryn. She leaves behind 10 grandkids and 12 great-grandkids. She is survived by her siblings Glen Graves, Jan Tiger, and Norma Donnell.
A graveside funeral service will be held in Junction, Texas on Saturday, September 17th at 2 p.m.
The book of Revelation says God will wipe away every tear from our eyes and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain. As we celebrate Sue’s beautiful life, we look forward to these promises.
