Lila Fox

Lila Zane (Cecil) Fox, 89, of Junction, Texas passed away on March 2, 2020 at her residence.

Lila was born at Cedar Mills in Grayson County. Her family moved to Abernathy, Texas and later to Roosevelt, Texas where they cut cedar, and later ran a humble pump station and Cafe in Roosevelt. Lila went to school at the two-room school in Roosevelt and later transferred to Junction. After graduating she attended business school in San Antonio. She married Robert Louis Fox October 21.1949.  She and Robert moved to the Fox Ranch and had two children, Norman Louis Fox and Connie Diane Fox. She worked on the ranch with Robert for several years, until Robert got her a job driving the school bus. While driving the bus, she also worked in the school cafeteria, at the Donut Shop, cooked for meals on wheels, and finally her favorite job a teacher's aide. Lila was a Boy Scout leader, a Girl Scout leader and taught Sunday school. She loved crafts and cooking, but most of all she loved doing things with kids. She was very active in Presbyterian women and loved her community. She organized the community fund raiser for 39 years.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father and all her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Louis Fox; son, Norman Louis Fox his wife Julie Ann Fox, and their son Andrew Louis Fox; her daughter Connie Fox; and many nieces and nephews.

Lila had dementia and cancer. Death was not easy; she did not want to leave her husband and babies. Not just her kids, grandson and nieces and nephews, but all of you who rode her bus, were in Scouts, and were in her classes (school and Sunday school).  In Ray Wylie’s song, Mother Hubbard’s Blues, "The mother asks some touch questions - Like when Jesus went to heaven did he leave a vapor trail? I don’t rightly know," But, I know Lila did we will miss her so.

A gathering to celebrate her life will be held 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 8, 2020 at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of the professionals at Kimble Funeral Home. (325) 446-3076
