LaMont Odell Townsend

LaMont Odell Townsend was born on August 18, 1942, to Eugene Edward and Marie Frances Townsend in Scottsbluff, NE. When LaMont was 10 years old, his family moved to Bunker, MO, where he graduated from high school. May 16th, 1962, he married his love, Joy Ann Flair. In 1970, they moved to Scottsbluff, NE. He was a talented carpenter and built many custom homes in the area. In his later years, he enjoyed helping his sons with their work projects and enjoyed haying and working with his cattle. In September 2024, LaMont and Joy moved, along with their wonderful caretaker, Tryna Hernandez, to live out their last days near 2 of their sons in Junction, TX.

LaMont loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren wholeheartedly. Together, LaMont and Joy have 4 children: Brian and Jean Townsend of Scottsbluff, NE; Brent and Janet Townsend of Junction, TX; Arthur and Kyann Smith of Scottsbluff, NE; and Kyle and Julia Townsend of Junction, TX, 20 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and are expecting 3 more great-grandchildren soon.  LaMont is survived by his youngest sister, Beth Harrison. 

He was preceded in death by his siblings LeRoy Townsend, Margurette Ross, Arold Townsend (who passed tragically at age 2), Sandy Townsend, and one great-grandchild. 

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at the Kimble Funeral Home chapel with Martin Wilson, Lorraine Lerwick, and Jennifer Bartels officiating. 

Visitation will be held 5-7:00 PM, Monday at Kimble Funeral Home.
