We have lost our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Kathy Lee Rotge, 67, of Junction, Texas. She reached her purpose on Earth on January 9, 2021.
Kathy was born to Elmer and Elizabeth Baxter in Guam on August 19, 1953.
Kathy, being from a military family, moved several times before settling in Junction. She graduated from Junction High School in 1971, was baptized in 1972 at First Baptist Church.
Kathy married Jesse Jay Rotge in 1973 and brought into this world their four children, Roger, Justin, Jeremy and Janet.
Kathy opened “Kathy’s Country Kitchen” restaurant in 1987, she then worked at Liverman’s Grocery for 12 years before accepting a position at The Junction Eagle newspaper. Kathy was always reliable and hardworking.
She enjoyed fishing trips, tubing down the South Llano River, coloring on her iPad and watching football! Kathy took pleasure in going to her class reunions, but most of all she enjoyed having company and visiting with family and friends. Kathy loved to laugh and cut-up but at times could also be known for her borderline inappropriate personality. She was a person who spoke her mind but was also as genuine a person as they come.
Kathy had a special bond with each one of her daughters-in-law but still liked to give them a hard time. Her greatest pride in life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandson, they were the apple of her eye. Kathy was the backbone of her family and she will be dearly missed by all.
Kathy Lee Rotge was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Elizabeth Baxter, and her brother, Roger Baxter.
Kathy is survived by one sister, Sherrel Baxter of Planterville, Texas; two nephews, Duane Baxter and wife, Beckie, and Curtis Underwood; and great-nieces and -nephew; sons, Roger Rotge and wife, Jimmie, of Georgetown, Texas, Justin Rotge and wife, Rhonda, and Jeremy Rotge and wife, Sandy, all of Junction; daughter, Janet Rotge of Mountain Home, Texas; grandchildren, Kenneth, Christopher Lee, Christopher Dwayne, Callie, Kaylynn, Sarah, Kira and Jaydon; and her great-grandson, Cruise.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Junction at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 16.
