Joe Norris Jr.

Junction Joe B. Norris Jr., 84, of Junction, TX, passed from this life at his residence on Tuesday, July 3, 2012. He was born July 30, 1927 in Graham, Texas to J.B. and Blanche Smith Norris.

Joe met and married the love of his life Kay Vierling Norris on June 20, 1953 at the Vierling Ranch in Junction, TX. Joe was a loving son, husband, father and friend. Joe served as a Boy Scout Leader in Junction and loved ranching and sharing his experiences with others. Joe worked as a State Range Conservationist until retirement in 1982. Joe was an avid sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Astros, Texas Rangers and the Fighting Texas Aggie teams. Joe enjoyed playing golf and was active in the First Presbyterian Church as well as being President of the Kimble County Hospital Foundation and serving as Chairman of the Board of Kimble Hospital.

Joe is survived by his wife, Kay Norris daughters Ann Norris, Sally Shomaker and husband Mike. Sister Celia Brockman, Nephews Rob Brockman, Joe Brockman and Andy Brockman and last but not least his K9 companion Barney and a host of many loving friends and neighbors.

He is preceded in death by his parents J.B. and Blanche Norris.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 6, 2012 at 10 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Junction, TX. with Rev. Jim and Rev. Laurie Barker officiating. Interment to follow at Junction City Cemetery.


The family suggests Memorials be made to the Kimble Hospital Foundation and the First Presbyterian Church.
