Jamie Lee Van Winkle

Jamie Lee “Granny” Van Winkle, 85, of Junction Texas, passed away at home with her family January 13, 2024. She was born June 12, 1938 in Eldorado Texas.

Lee had a vibrant personality and was well known in the community. She touched the lives of those around her and everyone that knew her called her Granny. She had a special place in the hearts of her family and friends.

In her career, Lee worked as a truck driver for 45 years. Her dedication and hard work were evident in her commitment to her profession.

Outside of work, Lee had a passion for reading and photography. She was an avid reader and could often be found with a book in her hands. She made the best pot of beans and her pecan pie was award worthy. Her love of photography allowed her to capture memories and moments in time. She took pictures all over the country, most of them were taken from the window of her 18 wheeler. Granny Lee was an all-around badass.

Lee is survived by her sisters, Judy Urbantke, LaNell Weinkauf, her stepson, Eddie Van Winkle Jr., her grandchildren, Casey Van Winkle, Misty Connell, Dusty Tinsley, Forrest Lagrone, great grandchildren, Lindsay Lagrone, Cody Green, Hailee McDaniel, Cheyenne Lagrone, Daniel Thompkins, Rudy Thompkins, Hagen Odden, Oliver Lagrone, Jessie Rae Cantrell, Jake Cantrell, and Sara Coleman. Numerous great-great grandchildren, a few of which she was fortunate to love and hold.

Lee is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Eddie Van Winkle, her daughters Kathy Wootton, Kelli Rae Lagrone, Tammy Piper, and her son Robert Piper.

A memorial service and luncheon will be held in honor of Lee’s life will be held on Saturday, January 20th at 12:00PM at The Full Gospel Church in Junction.
