James Henry "Lizard" Smith, 86, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at his home in Junction, Texas. James was born September 11, 1930 in Brownfield, Texas to Euel Jackson and Mildred Elizabeth Wallace Smith. He was the second of eight children.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, E.J. Smith and J.D. Smith.
He is survived by brothers, J.C. Smith of Lawton, Oklahoma, J.W. (Dub) Smith and wife Karen of Las Vegas, New Mexico, and Billy Smith of Bastrop, Texas; sisters, Patsy Elam and husband Pete, and Bonnie Goulla of Junction. He is survived by many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. He is survived by one special nephew, Coy Aaron, and Coy's companion, Kim Booker who together cared for James until his death.
James was a diesel mechanic by trade, but could do most anything. Over the years, he owned a service station (Standard Oil), worked for many companies as a mechanic, cut cedar, and bought and sold just about anything to make a dollar. He was always working to make a living.
James loved to fish, play dominoes and go dancing at London Hall. You could find him and long-time dance partner, Doris Hatch, at London on any given Saturday night.
James will be missed by the many friends, neighbors and family that knew and loved him.
Memorial services will be held 4:00 PM, Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Kimble Funeral Home Chapel with Brother John Guerrero officiating.
