James (Jim) W. Shrieve, age 86, from Livingston , Texas passed away on his ranch Whitetail Junction Ranch in Junction , Texas on November 9, 2024.
He was born on June 13th, 1938 in Thurston, Ohio to parents Horris Watt Rhodes and Elizabeth Ramsey. On November 11, 1944, he lost his father who was a pilot in WWII. Jim's mother later re-married a man named Jonas Eugene Shrieve who took on the father role for Jim from that day forward. Jim enjoyed excelling in school and later graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1961 with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Management. He was immediately employed by Shell Chemical Company in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1968, he then moved to Brunswick, NJ after being transferring to Shell Chemical's headquarters in New York City. 2 years later in 1970, when Shell moved their headquarters to Houston , so did Jim. During those years, Jim had 3 children: Brad, Tracy, and Debbie who would all go on to participate in success of Shrieve Chemical Company. Jim started Shrieve Chemical company in 1978 in the Woodlands, Tx in a small office with his daughter Tracy. Together with his best friend Ed Beckler and family, the company continued to grow. He continued to add different products from Chevron in the early 1980's that launched Shrieve Chemical from a brokerage firm and into the manufacturing realm which propelled Shrieve Chemical into an international business with facilities across the globe.
Jim loved staying active and enjoyed hunting, traveling, and the outdoors. In 1999, he purchased Whitetail Junction Ranch in Junction, Texas where he continued to entertain clients and form long lasting relationships. On February 21, 2004, he met Ann Mills, and they were married in the Woodlands, Texas on October 3, 2004 where he gained 2 more daughters Annette and Lacey. Together, they enjoyed traveling in their motorhome across the US visiting family and friends, going hunting, and other adventures. Jim Shrieve was the definition of a true entrepreneur. His quick wit, humility and genuine kindness granted him numerous lifelong friendships that we are all left to treasure in his absence. As far as hunting goes, that will continue, he will just be hunting in a better place.
He was preceded in death by his parents- Horris Watt Rhodes, Jonas Eugene and Elizabeth Shrieve; Son - Brad Shrieve; Daughter- Debbie Shrieve; Sister-Betty Jane Ayers, and great-granddaughter - Miley Beleele.
He is survived by his spouse- Annie Shrieve, sister- Margie Speaks, uncle- Ron Ramsey, daughters- Tracy Shrieve, Annette Mills and Lacey Page, and daughter-in-law- Michele Shrieve. Grandchildren- Jennifer Smith ( Jake), Jessica Shrieve, Jason Shrieve (Holly), Payton Page, Forrest Page, Sheri Bingham, and Robin Bingham. Jim is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild along with numerous close friends and relatives.
Services for Jim will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 16th at Cochran Funeral Home, 406 N Yaupon Ave, Livingston, TX 77351.
