Humberto “Beto” Gonzales, born to Alejandro Gonzales from Mexico and Julia Benavides of Lampasas on June 5, 1939, passed away on February 1, 1021 at the age of 81, after a short illness.
Beto knew what it meant to be a hard worker. Starting to work in his teens with his father, he was a sheep and goat shearer, cedar hauler, pecan harvester, and worked in other endeavors for at least 65 years.
When he finally slowed down, his favorite things to do were going to the race barn, fishing, hunting, casino trips, drinking beer, and he loved cooking BBQ for family and friends.
Beto was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Junction.
Humberto is preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Matthew; grandson, Andy Gonzales; brother, Ernest Gonzales; and sister, Julia Robles.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 62 years, Rosalinda (Abilez) Gonzales; sons, Noe (Donna), Gilbert (Amy), Victor (Carye), and Hector; sister, Reyes Menchaca; brother, Alejandro Gonzales, Jr.; sister, Francis Gonzales; 9 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00AM, Saturday, February 6, 2021 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 7th & Oak St., Junction, Texas 76849. Interment will follow in Junction City Cemetery.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held 6:00PM, Friday at Kimble Funeral Home, 1010 College St., Junction, Texas 76849.
Pallbearers will be Noe Gonzales, Gilbert Gonzales, Victor Gonzales, Hector Gonzales, Brandon Keith, Brian Gonzales, Victor Myles Gonzales, and Myles Victor Gonzales.
