Herminia Menchaca

Herminia Menchaca, 86, of San Antonio, formerly of Junction, passed from this life on January 28, 2013 at a care facility in San Antonio.

Herminia was born December 28, 1926 in Junction, Texas to Trinidad and Luz De Los Santos. She married Apolonio Menchaca on June 17, 1946 in Junction, Texas. While in Junction she was a parishioner at St. Theresas Catholic Church and was devoted in her Catholic faith. Herminia spent her life nurturing others. She was a strong and strongwilled lady who was the rock of her family. Her door was always open and full of hospitality. She loved to cook, especially tamales, and shared her gift with others. Herminia was a devoted wife, mother, and granny and her overwhelming care of others will be cherished and missed by all who knew and loved her.

Herminia was preceded in death by her husband sisters, Lupe Condarco and Elvira Garcia and brothers, Modesto De Los Santos, Steve De Los Santos, and Juan De Los Santos.

Those left to honor her memory include her four children, Edward Menchaca and wife Florence of San Antonio, Apolonio Menchaca, Jr. of wood, Melinda Van Winkle and husband Billy of San Antonio, and Belinda Flores and husband Raul of Houston seven grandchildren, 7 greatgrandchildren, brothers, Julian De Los Santos and wife Josephine of Ballinger and Amadeo De Los Santos of Junction sister, Irma Galindo of Ft. Worth, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, February 1, 2013 at St. Theresas Catholic Church with Father Albert Enzeamya as Celebrant. Interment will follow in NE Junction Cemetery. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 31, with visitation to follow at Kimble Funeral Home.
