Gus Franklin Lamb, Jr., 87, of Junction, Texas passed from this life on November 24, 2013 at a local care facility.

Gus was born July 7, 1926 in Van Zandt County, Texas to Gus Franklin Lamb, Sr. and Zora Shackelford Lamb. Gus was raised in rural west Texas farming communities. He married Esta Lee Morrow on November 19, 1944. Gus was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy seeing active duty in the Pacific. He decided farming was not a good career choice for his growing family and ventured into the oil and gas industry and exploration, drilling in Southern New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma. He retired in 1988 after 24 years with Lone StarEnsearch as Senior Production Foreman of Southern Texas.

Gus was an avid and very competitive outdoorsman. He would plan all year for the annual deer hunt in Colorado with his boys even after they were no longer boys. Until failing health, Gus was active in the Junction Masonic Lodge, serving as Past Master, locally, and in 1983 he served as District Deputy Grand Master of the 53rd Masonic District, was a Shriner and held the position of Worthy Patron in Eastern Star.

Gus knew God, loved his family, respected hard work, always drove a Ford and was a true Dallas Cowboy fan. He is already missed.

Gus is preceded in death by his parents his wife stepfather, Charles McCain, Sr. brothers, S.O. Lamb, Donald Lamb, Charles McCain, Jr., Gerald McCain, and Jerry McCain sisters, Elba McCain and Leila Beth McCain.

He is survived by sons, Gary Lamb and wife Dolores of Junction, Windon Buster Lamb and wife Ginny of Weatherford daughter, Linda Hutchison and husband Bud of Eldorado Springs, Missouri 6 grandchildren, 14 greatgrandchildren, 25 greatgreatgrandchildren sister, Sharon McCain Burnet of Westbrook brother, John Charles McCain of San Antonio sisterinlaw, Bessie Lamb of Colorado City and Wanda Wood of Austin along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at the Kimble Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Bolton officiating. Interment with military honors and Masonic rites will follow in the Junction City Cemetery. ation will be held 57:00 PM, Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Kimble Funeral Home.
