Gordon Ray Lucas

Gordon R. Lucas, 81, of Junction, Texas passed from this life on July 16, 2022 at a local hospital. 

Gordon was born January 25, 1941 to Hughey and Ima (Boatwright) Lucas in Gorman, Texas.  He grew up in Sundown, Texas and graduated from Sundown High School, Class of 1959.  Following graduation, Gordon joined the US Navy and served his country from 1959-1963.  He worked for El Paso Natural Gas from 1963-1996; retiring at the age of 55.  Gordon lived in Gallup, New Mexico for 45 years, and had been a resident of Junction for the past 11 years. 

Gordon is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Don Lucas and Bob Lucas.

Survivors include his wife, Golda Lucas; son, J.W. Lucas of Houston; daughter, Elizabeth “Betsy” Vigil and husband Darrel of Gallup, NM; grandchildren, Ashley Vigil and Jake Vigil of Gallup, NM and Michaela Vigil of Albuquerque, NM.

No local services will be held.  Interment will be at a later date at Gallup State Veterans Cemetery in Gallup, NM.
