Gerald Loeffler, 87, died March 15, 2018, in the Hill Country Care Center in Junction, Texas. A visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. March 18, 2018, at the Kimble Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m, Monday, March 19, 2018, at the College Street Church of Christ in Junction, officiated by King Burney with singing led by Bryce Stewart. Interment services will follow at the Junction Cemetery.
He was born on March 15, 1931, in Junction to Lillie Ola Jetton and Robert Henry Loeffler. He graduated from Junction High School in 1948, and from Texas Tech University in Lubbock in 1952. He married his sweetheart from second grade, Russa Nell Kothmann on June 6, 1952. They were married 43 years before her passing on October 14, 1995.
His first job after college was in Arlington, Virginia, with what is now known as the National Security Agency or NSA. He then worked as a land man securing oil and gas leases in Texas, New Mexico, and Louisiana, while living in Fort Worth, Texas; Roswell, New Mexico; and Abilene, Texas. In 1961, Gerald moved his family to Junction, Texas, where he joined the family businesses, The Junction Hardware Company and Loeffler Motor Company.
Gerald married Avis Jefferies Harrison on November 2, 1996, at the Ivy Chapel between Junction and London. They have been married for 21 years.
Gerald was a loving family man who was devoted to his faith where he impeccably served as song director, Deacon, and Elder in the College Street Church of Christ. He was a member and past president of the Junction Rotary Club. He was an advocate for the Boy Scouts of America having become an Eagle Scout and awarded the Order of the Arrow, a peer based selection of one who best exemplifies the ideals of scouting. Gerald took pleasure with his involvement in various community activities.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Russa Nell, brother, Victor Loeffler, and sister, Janice Spivy.
He is survived by his wife, Avis of Junction; daughter and son-in-law, Diane & David Whitworth of Junction; son, David Loeffler of Palm Springs, California; daughter and son-in-law; Linda & Gene Geistweidt, of Mason, Texas; two step daughters, and step son-in-law, Sharla Harrison of Galveston, Texas, and Neva and Mike Halliday of Euless, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Geistweidt, Blair Guidroz, Chance Halliday, Kyle Hawkins, Matt Schmidt, Scott Tessmar, Carl Whitworth, and Dwight Whitworth. Honorary pallbearers will be close friends and family.
