Fred Heenie

Fred R. Heenie, 82, died on April 22, 2018 at his residence in Junction, Texas.

Fred was born on September 7, 1935 in New Haven, Connecticut. He graduated from New Haven High School and later served a machinist/welders state supervised apprenticeship that facilitated his first job. His interest in working with wood was probably inherited. His great-grandfather was a fret maker and his grandfather was a wood worker, refurbished antiques and maker of gun stocks and his father did as his father did including being the third generation on the custom Model 21 bench at Winchester Repeating Arms Company. Fred loved designing and building custom furniture in his shop. He later stated, "My 50+ years 'on the road' have given me incredible exposure to the work of many very talented and creative architects, designers, engineers and woodworkers that I will always be grateful for the experience and the knowledge of so many." Fred was a semi-pro hockey player, coach, and remained an avid fan.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce; daughter, Donna Richmond; and step-daughter, Tracey Harkins. Fred later received a second chance at love with Maggie Graham and was married. She preceded him in death in 2008.

He is survived by three sons, Scott Heenie (Susan) of GA; Kevin Heenie (Kim) of MN; John Heenie (Jamie) of IL; step-daughters, Torey Harkins of AZ, Toney Koller (Joe) of GA, Ann Marie Majors of TX, and Melissa Haley (Brian) of TX; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and loved ones.

Visitation will be held 6:00 PM, Sunday, April 29 at Kimble Funeral Home with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, April 30, 2018 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Junction. Interment will follow at Junction City Cemetery.
