Conway Childress

Conway Childress, age 89, died on April 24th, 2021 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Conway was born to Mary King and Clarence Dillard Childress on September 19th, 1931 in Roxboro, North Carolina. He entered the Air Force after high school where he learned the skill of plumbing which paved the way of his profession as a Master Plumber until he retired in 1996. After the Air Force, he was married to Opal Childress on February 8th, 1956 in Sweetwater, Texas.

Conway is survived by his wife, Opal Childress and 5 of their 6 children; Teresa Edgar, Steven Childress, Dena Cobble, Scherri Childress, and Angie LeBouef; 13 grandchildren; Corey Childress (Vanessa), Justin Childress, Jason Edgar, David Edgar, Aryn Kroeker, Anna Kroeker, Larry Cobble, Chelsea Cobble, Carsyn LeBouef, James LeBouef, Matthew LeBouef, Jacob Childress, and Kayleigh Childress;  and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Marcoleta Rogers, Aundrea Saunders, Jaunita Frizzell, and Mille Owen. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Franklin Hyde and his son Clarence Childress.

Services will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at the First Baptist Church with visitation from 10:00AM - 12:00PM, and funeral services at 2:00PM with Pastor Steve Myers officiating.  Interment will follow at London Cemetery.
