Junction Charles Reece Burleson, 81, of Junction, Texas, passed from this life on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the local hospital. Charles was born January 25, 1933 in Aquilla, Texas to Euel Cecil Burleson and Willa Mae Robinson. Charles grew up all over the great USA with his parents, who both were in the pipeline business. Shortly after high school, Charles joined the U.S. Army at the age of 20. He served in the Korean War and received the Korean Service Medal, the UN Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. During his service, he learned the weld and pipeline trade and after his service he joined the welding crew for Northwest Plumbing and Pipelines Association in Washington State.
While working in Canada, he met the love of his life Martha Schmitke and they were married in Farmington, NM on December 6, 1956. Charles was a true Texas cowboy. He loved team roping, rodeos, bull riding and spending time outdoors working on various welding projects. He received many awards, buckles and trophies through the team roping events at rodeos. He also gained many friends through roping and pipelining. Even after retiring in Junction, he continued to do welding projects for friends and family. If you were one of Charless friends, you knew he would do anything to help you out. He was a strong and wonderful man with a great big heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents Euel and Willa Mae Burleson.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife, Martha Burleson his sister, Lorell Fleming of Bridgeport, Texas his brother, Joe Burleson of Junction, Texas his sons, Dwayne Burleson and his wife Diane, of Junction, Texas and Randy Melenchuk and his wife Patsy of Prince George, Canada his grandchildren, Justin and Amey Burleson and Scott and Ryan Melenchuk also great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, July 10, 2014 in the chapel of Kimble Funeral Home, 1010 College Street Junction, Texas. Viewing will be held at 5pm7pm, Wednesday July 9, 2014 at Kimble Funeral Home.
