Charles Robert “Bob” Bowers, 83, of Junction passed from this life on November 14, 2023 at a care facility in Menard.
Bob was born January 28, 1940 in Arizona to Rob and Margaret Bowers. They moved to Junction when Bob was a small child, and he attended school and graduated from Junction High School. Upon graduating he joined the Army Reserves, and then the Texas Highway Patrol where he spent several years before finally working for Southland Corps. Bob moved when his job did, but returned home to Junction a few years ago. On April 29, 1999, he married Kay Parker, they had known each other and been friends for years through school and their Church of Christ membership. In 2009, Bob was honored by the Friends of the Texas Rangers.
Bob was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation, and loved connecting to his heritage by hunting arrowheads. He also enjoyed reading, hunting and being outdoors in the country. Bob was a very talented singer, banjo and guitar player. Bob liked to give to others as though he was Santa Claus. His giving spirit and generosity will be missed by many; he was greatly loved.
