Alene Meyer Hight, 89, of London, TX passed from this life on April 3, 2016 in Menard, TX.

Alene was born January 18, 1927 to Carl and Esther Meyer in Eden, TX. She married Leonard Marion Hight on November 8, 1947 in London, TX. She worked as the Food Service Director for San Angelo ISD for many years, and was an excellent cook at work and at home. Alene loved the outdoors. She enjoyed activities such as gardening, canning, hunting arrowheads, fishing, hunting, and camping. She loved to travel and specifically appreciated going to the mountains. Her family was very important to her and she treasured spending time with them especially at the family gatherings.

Alene had been a resident of London since 1980 and was a member of the London Baptist Church.

Alene is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, John Meyer; and sister, Patsy Cain.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her sons, John Hight and wife Ollie of London and Jackie Hight and wife Judy of Eden; four grandchildren, Shaumarie Hight, Callen Hight, Tamara Letcher, and Laurie Hennig; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Susie, Olga, and Lena all of Washington; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and special friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the London Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Jeffers officiating. Interment will follow in the Little Saline Cemetery.
