AJ Ivy


AJ Ivy, Jr., 88 of Junction, Texas peacefully passed in his home on April 11, 2014. He was born on July 6, 1925 to AJ Jack Ivy and Allie Adams Ivy in London, TX.

AJ spent his childhood between London and Sanderson, TX on working livestock ranches with his mother and father. He graduated from Junction High School in 1942 and left home, College Station bound. AJ spent one year with the Texas AM Corps of Cadets before he chose to join the Army Air Corps now USAF to serve during WWII, in which he took great honor. On June 9, 1946, AJ married his one true love, Lorene Kathleen Mueller, of Mason, TX and on May 29, 1952 had their only child, Candace Mae Ivy. AJ continued his active service through the end of the Korean War and continued in the USAF Reserves. He was recalled to active duty during the Vietnam War. In 1976 he was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Colonel. During his time in the reserves and after retirement from the USAF, AJ worked for the Texas Highway Department as an Engineer Assistant Office Manager where he retired after 33 years in 1986. As a child AJs passions were ranching and aviation. After his retirement he spent the rest of his days focusing on his ranches in London, TX.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Lorene Kathleen Ivy, of Kimble County, TX Daughter Candace Mae Ivy Angell and husband Lee Grandchildren Allie Noelle Hoffman, Nash Ivy Nichols and wife Pam, all of Karnes County, TX, Nate Nichols and wife Ashley, of Guadalupe County, TX, Kenny Angell and wife Casey, of Midland County, TX, and Keith Angell and wife Brittany, of Los Angeles County, CA. AJ was blessed with 9 greatgrandchildren, with more to come, and numerous extended family and dear friends.

ation will be held on April 15, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Kimble Funeral Home in Junction, TX. Funeral service will be held on April 16, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Junction, TX. Interment will immediately follow at the London Cemetery in London, TX.
