To Steve's family,
I went to school and graduated with Steve. It was usually him, Mike and me just about every minute of everyday at school. I think he may have been in on hiding judging eggs in the ag building closets...it was found sometime the next year...stink ain't the word for how bad it was.
I haven't seen him since graduation, but good memories are still with me.
So, to his family, thank you for sharing him with the world, 'cause he is the kind of guy the world needs to know...
So long ole friend, thanks for the memories..."Hoppers"

I had the pleasure of working with Steve in Corpus Christi before and after his laryngectomy. Even through all the trials, he always had a smirk and smile, and persevered through whatever the challenge was. I was saddened today when I learned of his passing. I still have the horseshoe and flashlight he sent with me to Alaska to help light my way through the dark winter. His light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew him. Steve, your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. You will be missed!

Thank you all so much for your kindness and support.
I had told Steve, “you did the right thing” after his emergency tracheotomy on December 30, 2017. He got to see all of his kids graduate from high school and go to college if they wanted to. He had a tender heart for animals and the moon phases. He knew something about everything and loved a good listener. I had to become pretty clever with him in the early years and he enjoyed the challenge. RIP Steve Amaon

I worked with Steve for years.  He was always encouraging and had a good attitude about life. He was a real cowboy and a true good ol' boy.

I am glad I knew him and was able to spend countless hours together talking about the world's problems, hunting, shooting, trying to fix things.  He just brought a smile to my face.

I will miss you Steve.
Our prayers are out to Steve's family.

Saddened to hear of Steve’s passing. We worked together for a number of years where I learned a great deal from him. Steve was a man of small stature but had a booming voice and was a seasoned leader. He was a stickler for doing things correctly. Used to say it wasn’t finished until it was “plumb, filed, fitted, and painted” or “if it ain’t right it’s all wrong”. He definitely had a way with words. I’d smile when he would tease visiting vendors who would bring in doughnuts. He’d stare them in the face and say “where’s the meat?”. He loved a good meat kolache. We developed a friendship outside of work and lent each other a hand on many occasions. Will always remember the time I pulled an old RV trailer for him out to his “river place”. Ended up having all four tires blow out before we made it. We laughed a lot that day. I admired the way Steve talked about his kids and the patience he exhibited with them. He loved them dearly. To his family I’m sorry for your loss and grateful to have known Steve. Rest In Peace Steve and God bless.
